ADA-409 for brain diseases
Brain diseases
Ferroptosis is iron-dependent cell death caused by accumulation of lipid peroxidation. It was recently discovered to be a major pathway leading to cell death in e.g. Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, ALS and acute brain insults, and hence inhibition of ferroptosis has become one of novel therapeutic strategies for brain diseases. Aranda’s proprietary ADA-409 small molecules strongly inhibit lipid peroxidation and protect against ferroptotic cell death. The data has been published in collaboration with University of Eastern Finland and University of Helsinki (Keuters et al., 2021). The program is partnered.
